Doug Farr, author of Sustainable Urbanism, told us that real cities "dense, mixed use and transit-served" are the answer to the challenge of global warming, not, as commonly believed, the problem. Contrary to popular wisdom, technological fixes - better light bulbs and hybrid cars - won't win the day.
