Talent Dividend Used to Support Dalls Agenda
Posted by Carol Coletta on November 06, 2010
It's great to see the Talent Dividend used to justify smart actions in cities. The editorial board of the Dallas Morning News points to the $4.6 billion annual dividend Dallas stands to gain if college attainment is increased by just one percentage point. That's the increase in aggregate person income Dallas could expect from the education gains.
The Talent Dividend continues to be a persuasive argument for communities throughout the country and sometimes shows up in the most surprising places. Last week, the head of the Pittsburgh Promise showed me how he is using the Talent Dividend to urge funding for his important scholarship program for Pittsburgh public school graduates. The head of an interfaith initiative in Memphis told me how he uses the Talent Dividend to gain support for his work. Neither organization is an official partner of CEOs for Cities. But our work is freely accessible and used in ways we may never know.
That is the mark of a strong meme. It gets circulated and adopted widely.
