Power of the Porch

Nice little description of urban life as experienced from the porch in today's Chicago Tribune. I particularly like the idea of "polite separation" of public and private space. Outward facing parts of the home allowing people to interact (or not) with the surrounding city. I think I'll unplug my laptop and head outside now....
