Citygarden, a 2.9 acre sculpture park across 2 blocks of St. Louis’ central corridor known as the Gateway Mall, which just opened is a bold step forward for the city in its aspiration to bring the downtown back to life and give people reasons to engage with the area in new ways.
The sculpture collection includes both modern and contemporary pieces from a range of artists and is accompanied by an audio tour that can be called up from your cell phone. The park also boasts a café, a waterfall, pool and ‘spray plaza’ and various seating features.
The Citygarden is one of the most visible steps in the campaign to revitalize the city and is being seen as a platform to generate a more vibrant downtown as well as enhancing the attractiveness of other, future development opportunities.
