NACTO Releases Guide for Better Bikeways

One of the key recommendations from the US Initiative Connectivity Challenge Report focused on the importance of incorporating bikes in the city planning process. The recent rise in gas prices makes alternative transportation options all the more important. In an effort to increase multi-modal transportation use in urban areas, the National Association of City Transportation Officials, a coalition of transportation officials, released the Urban Bikeway Design Guide. The guide serves as a design manual for bicycle-friendly streets that can be adapted into practice in US urban areas as cities further incorporate alternative transportation options.
