Miami Dade College Launches Innovative Scholarship

Under the leadership of Eduardo Padron, Miami Dade College President and CEOs for Cities partner, Miami Dade College released a game-changing scholarship program today. The community college will offer a full scholarship to any newly enrolled student from Miami-Dade county with over a 3.0 high school GPA beginning in fall 2011. The American Dream Scholarship will cover 60 credits, which is the equivalent of $6500. The Miami Herald hailed the scholarship as a “unique…program designed to let more Miami-Dade students focus on their academic ambitions than worry about paying their bills.” The American Dream Scholarship is a sparkling example of Eduardo Padron’s leadership on the Talent Dividend, the 58 percent of a city’s success, as measured by per capita income, which is attributed to post-secondary degree attainment.
