“I Would Move to Milwaukee”

Detroit News reports that "Milwaukee is suddenly a magnet for twentysomethings looking for fun."

"Borrowing from the sparkle of Chicago and Minneapolis, Milwaukee is fast transforming itself from stolid German Midwest backwater to a hip city. Cranes are everywhere, building up the riverfront and lakefront and modernizing the freeways. The old Third Ward, where wholesalers once sold their sides of beef, now has sushi, futons, vegan falafel and Segway tours."

While the story is focused on Milwaukee as a travel destination, the suggestion is that young residents will soon follow. As one young traveler assessed it, "I would move to Milwaukee in a heartbeat."

The newspaper calls the city "grand but warm, large but human scale, artistic but accessible."
