Give a Minute, and Change Your City
Posted by Natalie Campbell on November 02, 2010
With today’s launch of Give a Minute, Chicagoans will be able to engage in a new kind of public dialogue about how to make the city an easier place to get around without owning a car.
The Give a Minute for Chicago campaign is a new model for citizen participation. It’s an easy way to share ideas, connect them together, and make them happen. And citizens only need one minute of their time for this interaction.
Chicago’s featured leaders, including CTA Chairman Terry Peterson, Active Transportation Alliance Executive Director Ron Burke and SRAM President and CEO Stan Day, are asking residents this question. “Hey Chicago, what would encourage you to walk, bike or take CTA more often?” Citizens can text their ideas or post them to the Give a Minute website. These ideas will guide recommendations during the Connectivity Challenge in Chicago December 8-10.

Thanks to Local Projects for creating this exciting campaign and to CTA for supporting the Chicago campaign. A special thank you to the Rockefeller Foundation and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for their substantial support of Give a Minute and to the Chicago Community Trust for its sponsorship of the Chicago Connectivity Challenge.
