CEOs for Cities is a national network of urban leaders dedicated to building and sustaining the next generation of great American cities.

CNN has identified a rising trend: green is going bipartisan. In red states and blue states alike, ballot measures and other initiatives are showing broad support for government-funded land conversation. CNN profiles Cobb County, Georgia, a suburban Republican stronghold north of Atlanta; despite voting down tax increases frequently, county residents will be given the chance by their County Commission on Election Day to support a $40 million bond to buy land for parks in an area that's 90% developed. Nationwide, "Nearly $6 billion for land conservation is at stake." Since 1988, the Trust for Public Land reports that 76 percent of land conservation initiatives at the state and local levels have passed. Ernest Cook, director of the trust's conservation finance program, says, "Many communities are trying to cope with the impact of sprawling development. They're concerned about losing their farms and forests and quality of life. People across the political spectrum care equally about quality of life in their communities."
