CEOs for Cities is a national network of urban leaders dedicated to building and sustaining the next generation of great American cities.

"A woman with a plan" is the description the New York Times gives Dr. Nancy Zimpher, chancellor of the State University of New York.  In very short order, she has turned the "unloved colossus" into the best economic development hope for the state of New York.  "My belief is that to move an organization forward you have to have a common, comprehensive and ambitious agenda," Dr. Zimpher told the NYT.  (And as a CEOs for Cities board member, she reminds us of that regularly.)  Her plan, "The Power of SUNY," represents the next evolution of thinking by universities operating as anchor institutions, taking a very big picture, beyond-the-gates approach to how universities can and ought to influence the success of their communities.
