CEOs for Cities is a national network of urban leaders dedicated to building and sustaining the next generation of great American cities.

I'm not sure, but according to the task force on the middle class meeting in Philly today, a green job pays 10-20% more than -- what? -- a non-green job.  Certainly, the $787 billion stimulus provides a market for green jobs with its $22.5 billion for green investments, including $5 billion to help people weatherize their homes and $500 million for a federal green-job-training program.  But this is one to watch.

Pray that it is not this year's version of biotechnology (which provides jobs in some places but not nearly all the places that pursued these jobs).  Weatherization seems like a winner for new jobs (assuming it is done by paid contractors and not DIY homeowners).  But it is highly unlikely that every city will be able to compete for wind turbine and solar panel manufacturing or even installation.

Hmm... so where are all those green jobs?

I am eager to see the analysis to see what all these green workers will be doing.  Let's hope it's all good news.

Why don't we pursue nuclear? The technology is green, safe, and cost competitive. US is way behind Europe in developing this resource
