CEOs for Cities is a national network of urban leaders dedicated to building and sustaining the next generation of great American cities.

Eduardo Padrón, President of Miami Dade College and CEOs for Cities partner, has a compelling piece in Tuesday's Miami Herald on the importance of talent to the nation's economy.  From Padron "We reassure ourselves that we are still the greatest country on Earth, with the most creative and productive workers. It's an empty declaration unless we back it up."

And now that we know the ROI of investing in educational attainment based on our Talent Dividend work - $124 billion in additional income by increasing educational attainment by just one percentage point in the largest 51 US metros - there is truly no solid argument against investing in talent.

Afterall what will all of those roads and bridges get us?  Not much compared to the potential of an additional 1.1 million college educated adults connecting and fueling innovation in our nation's cities. And that is just moving up one percentage point.

We're looking forward to taking this message to 25 cities this year as part of our Talent Dividend tour made possible by the Lumina Foundation, perhaps we should add an extra stop and visit Congress as well.
