CEOs for Cities is a national network of urban leaders dedicated to building and sustaining the next generation of great American cities.

As the discussion on the stimulus heats up, some projects submitted by mayors are being used to demonstrate how foolish it would be to funnel stimulus money directly to cities.  The proposed Las Vegas Museum of the Mob is this morning's poster child for stupid submissions.  (Sadly, new roads and bridges don't make good headlines as stupid projects, even though they may have a far worse impact.)

The sooner we get a strong voice for cities on the White House team, the sooner we can tamp this down and make a strong case for smart projects in cities as part of the package.  Let's hope Obama acts this week on the announcement of Urban Policy Czar.  The name most frequently mentioned -- in fact, treated as a done deal in major newspapers -- is Bronx Borough President Aldofo Carrion.  Let's get this done.
