This is just too cool:  High-production value MP3 walking tours for Hong Kong, Shanghai and Bejing done by Louis Vuitton.  This idea has all kinds of potential for cities to amplify their vibe, history and brand.  I'm picturing a public/private website with scores of downloadable tours that would provide bite-size chunks of learning and experiences for visitors and inhabitants alike.  Click here for the Soundwalk site.

Thanks for pointing to this -- I'll have to click through to the Soundwalk site and check it out. Several years ago, the Toronto Star put up downloadable audio tours of Toronto on one of its blog pages. Lots of different topics, including markets, shopping, art galleries, etc. See: http://starweb.blogs.com/audiotours/ In particular, check out Christopher Hume's on the architecture of Toronto -- on the website, you get a google map with those little pop-ups that include photos of the building in question. I always thought this was the coolest idea and wondered why it wasn't replicated in cities all over the country/ countries. But I guess it takes investment (in time, expertise, and lots of money) to make it happen and run it. With the Louis Vuitton angle, though, there's a model for how P3s could get involved. I'd really like to put something like this together for Victoria, BC, where I live. Get tourists off the beaten track, and get locals to explore their city, too.

The headline is definitely eye catching. The concept is really cool. http://www.audio-news.co.uk/
