USA Today cover story reporting today that far-flung suburbs are reacting to high gas prices with new plans for urban-like communities. Places like Marcopia, Arizona, outside of Phoenix, are attempting to transform themselves into destinations with walkable downtowns, mixed use development and places of employment.  There is a nice little map showing how home prices are dropping faster farther from the urban core too.
