CEOs for Cities is a national network of urban leaders dedicated to building and sustaining the next generation of great American cities.

Diverse groups translate their knowledge into innovation better than homogenous groups.  This makes it vital that cities find ways to enhance, map and tap into the diverse knowledge available to them to better their creative performance.

Identifying, encouraging, and accessing varied knowledge domains and talent pools as a way to unlock potential was the subject of lively discussion at our second Creative Cities Network meeting in New Orleans on Thursday. 

I found great inspiration not only in the ideas of Dr. Susanne Justesen, who shared her research on leveraging diverse knowledge to advance innovation, but also in those of the urban leaders who contributed their experience to assess how these concepts could be applied for the benefit of cities. 

We’ll continue to explore these ideas with contributors in the lead up to our next convening alongside the National Meeting on November 7.
