With our rapidly changing societies, how can local governments keep up with the new challenges facing them?

A recent publication offers the case studies of the four winners of the Audit Commission and IDeA Competition - local governments who have found innovative ways to address particular issues, however small or large. The competition focused as much on the story of “how authorities went about their innovations as in the final innovations themselves; it is the how as well as the what.” Those entries selected as winners were valued for their “well-managed risk taking”.
