Most Admired Knowledge Cities
December 30, 2007
Posted by: Carol
Started this year, the Most Admired Knowledge City Awards (MAKCi) recognize those communities around the world that are successfully engaging in formal and systematic knowledge-based development processes under the flag of Knowledge Cities. The winning cities in 2007 were Singapore, Boston, and Barcelona.
The MAKCi Framework to assess a city's Urban Capital Systems is worth reviewing. The framework contends that a city has eight major types of capital:
1. Identity capital
2. Intelligence capital
3. Financial capital
4. Relational capital
5. Human individual capital
6. Human collective capital
7. Instrumental-material capital
8. Instrumental-knowledge capital
Here's a paper that does a good job of providing a means of analyzing each form of capital in your city.
