Portland - A Green Celebrity City
August 24, 2007
Posted by: Carol
Portland and "green" stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Gore have a lot in common these days - they're getting tons of attention for what they are doing to save the planet. That's the way The Oregonian framed it in an editorial published this week about the latest accolades for the city from the CEOs for Cities report, "Portland's Green Dividend."
Written tongue-in-cheek, the piece reflects on the burden of being a celebrity city and model for urban planners everywhere. Given the pay off - money saved, talent attracted, oh, and curbing global warming - it's a problem every city is green with envy to have.
