Early Morning Alarm

A recent report from the National Research Council's Transportation Research Board found that commuters are starting earlier -- and later -- than the traditional 6-9 a.m. rush hour. In fact, the number of commuters starting between 5 and 6:30 a.m. was 25 percent of the total number of new commuters between 1990 and 2004. Those starting between 9 and 11 a.m. were 12 percent of all new commuters.
