Dallas Urban Market Saved by City

Anticipating ongoing growth in its downtown, a Dallas City Council committee voted to "grant" more than $500,000 to keep a downtown market open for the next two years. Another half million will be raised by the private sector.
"Proponents of the deal argued that City Hall has made downtown Dallas redevelopment a top priority, with the establishment of a downtown market a key element. The center city continues to attract hundreds of new residents to high-rise apartments and condominiums, and subsidizing Urban Market a little longer is necessary to all downtown revitalization efforts," according to a piece in the Dallas Morning News.
