Carpooling Makes a Comeback

Technology and high gas prices are supporting an increase in carpooling. According to the Wall Street Journal, the number of people using King County's (Seattle) RideshareOnline.com, which enables people to match up for regular commutes or one-time events, is up 38 percent. A similar service in the Miami area, 1800234ride.com, has almost doubled its users in one year. Even Craigslist.com is in the ride-share business, with posts at 13,424 for 2005 through November.

NuRide.com rewards ride sharers with "frequent ride share points" and AlterNetRides.com serves corporation eager to clear their parking lots of cars and ease the pressure of high gas prices on employees' budgets.
